Tonight we welcomed Boy Scouts and their families to the Central Station, and the kids had an opportunity to tour the station, view the equipment and to see a demonstration of turn-out gear. They also ran v3 of our very popular Kids' Firefighter Challenge course consisting of several stations:
#1: Run and carry a high rise pack.
#2: Run and carry a hydrant wrench.
#3: Crawl under tables, rescue a hose dummy and then do CPR.
#4: Forcible entry, - hitting a tire with a rubber mallet.
#5: Fire suppression with a charged trash line.
The campaign is part of the Chester County Council’s annual “Race into Scouting” membership drive. We also use it for our recruiting and encourage many of the kids, even those not involved in the Scouts, to consider joining as a Junior Firefighter when they turn 14.
