Working Dwelling Fire in West Sadsbury Township

By KVFD
December 4, 2016

At 5:32 PM, Sunday evening, a neighbor reported that a home was on fire. He could see flames in the window and was unsure if everyone was out. Capt. Schreiber was in the area and found a heavy smoke condition. He assumed Cemetery Road Command and requested a working fire dispatch.

He soon updated the status and advised that it was a mobile home and everyone was out. Assistant Chief Klingler arrived and assumed command requesting a fire police task force and additional tankers since there are no hydrants in the area.

Engines, tankers, and fire police resources from throughout Western Chester and Eastern Lancaster counties responded. Joe Prekup provided a backhoe to assist in the overhaul.

There were no reports of any injuries. The mobile home was a total loss. Firefighters are still on-scene. The fire will be investigated by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office. They are on-scene now.

At 7:30 PM, Assistant Chief Klingler began to release cover companies and those at the scene. Thank you for the assist!

Command was terminated at 8:19 PM and all units were clear of the scene.

Units: Amb 8-1, Capt 8A, Assistant 8, Eng 8-1, Engine 8-2, Tanker 8, Amb 8-2 and Utility 8.

Mutual Aid: Multiple departments in Western Chester and Eastern Lancaster counties.

I heard the all the fire trucks yesterday and knew whatever happening was not good. I do not have much but I can't imagine losing everything of all times around Christmas. Does the family have anything set up to receive donations.
Thanks
Lisa
