The Colder Weather Is Here - Be CO Aware

November 10, 2017

The cold weather always brings more responses for chimney fires, CO alarms or suspected CO exposure. This has been true over the last 24 hours. Be aware, learn more.

Often called the invisible killer, carbon monoxide CO is an invisible, odorless, colorless gas created when fuels (such as gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, propane, oil, and methane) burn incompletely. In the home, heating and cooking equipment that burn fuel can be sources of carbon monoxide.

Your chimney–and the flue that lines it–adds architectural interest to your home, but its’ real function is to carry dangerous flue gases from your fireplace, wood stove or furnace safely out of your home.
