Last night at the monthly Department meeting, Commissioner Terence Farrell briefed the department on several initiatives including an update on County budgetary commitments to public safety to include the new training center, the upgrade to the radio system and new computer-aided dispatch.

He also spoke about the recent First Responder Walking Challenge and the win by his team. Each commissioner coached a team, and Commissioner Farrell had the winning team. #TeamFire with 53K steps from April to June. Health and fitness is obviously very important for all first responders.

WalkWorks ChesCo! is an initiative that aims to increase physical activity and reduce obesity rates in Chester County by promoting places and opportunities to walk, supporting walking groups, planning and promoting walking events, and coordinating walking challenges. Walking is a fun, easy, inexpensive, and accessible way to get more physically active.

The WalkWorks ChesCo! initiative is competing in the National Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge for a grand prize of $500,000. The goal is to make a positive health impact on our community.
