On Saturday December 11th, 2021 members of KVFD as well as Sadsburyville Fire Company completed a training class presented by Battalion Chief Wise of Harrisburg Fire Company who instructs for Combat Ready Training.
The training was a pilot program called Combat Ready Virtual Sets and Reps Training. The training allowed for members and line officers to participate in using the response matrix for our agencies in the Western Chester County for assignments and conducting themselves in the Command role based on what apparatus and/or designation they were operating in.
The training part of the that program focuses on the decisions made by company officers in the “first SCBA cylinder” of firefighting at our most common building types. Drawing on real world experience, you’ll learn fire proven strategies and tactics for fires in single-family dwellings, multiple-family dwellings, and commercial buildings. Discussion on the tactical options for the most common fire scenarios in these structures and outline decision making models for rapidly selecting the most appropriate engine and truck company operations at these fires. The information in this interactive program will help both new and veteran firefighters and officers make better decisions, more rapidly, to stop the fire and save lives.
See https://www.combatreadyfire.com/ for more training. Another class that is coming soon to Goshen Fire Company in West Chester is the Aggressive Command Supports Aggressive Firefighting.
