KVFD Assists on a Building Fire in West End Section of Coatesville City

KVFD Ladder 8 was dispatched at 1656 hours to relocate with Engine 6-1 (West Whiteland) to Station # 41 in Coatesville while they assisted Modena Fire Company on an incident in South Coatesville.

While on the relocate KVFD and West Whiteland Engine 6-1 were dispatched to a building fire in the 300 block of W. Lincoln Highway in the West End section of Coatesville City at 1806 hours.

Utility 43, Engine 6-1 and Ladder 8 responded. While enroute they were advised that the house was filling-up with smoke. Units arrived to confirm smoke showing on the third floor of a multi-occupancy apartment building. Engine 6-1 (Deputy 6) advised they would be stretching a hand-line and had a hydrant at Strode and Lincoln Hwy. Ladder 8 arrived as the first-due aerial and crews went into service with a primary search and also laddering the building. Engine 6-1 stretched a line to the fire floor.

Chief 35 (Reber) arrived on-scene and assumed Lincoln Highway Command and Deputy 6 (Miller) had interior operations as Chief 8 (Gathercole) assumed exterior operations.

Crews located the source of the fire and additional units were added on the working fire dispatch and also an additional alarm for manpower. Units clearing the South Coatesville incident responded and assisted.

Crews remained on-scene assisting Station # 41/43 until 2016 hours.
