June 28, 2024

On June 28th, 2024, The Westwood Fire Company along with area mutual aid were dispatched to the unit block of Short Drive in East Fallowfield Township for a house fire.

Westwood Fire Company units and mutual aid made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported flames from the rear of the house. Deputy 44 (Scott) arrived to confirm the report and requested a "Working Fire Dispatch" be dispatched. Deputy 44 reported possible entrapment and requested a 2nd alarm and established the command for the incident. Engine 44-5 was the first arriving unit and began suppression efforts as well as a search of the house for potential trapped occupants. The "Working Fire Dispatch" and 2nd alarm brought additional units to the scene. As units arrived On-scene the commander gave them their assignments. A previous Chief of the Westwood Fire Company and neighbor made contact with the residents who advised they were not home, so the Commander was advised of such.

The fire was placed under control at 19:33 with all personnel On-scene performing various task such as ventilation and overhaul operations. The Commander requested a response from the Chester County and local Fire Marshal's and Peco as well to secure the power to the residence. Deputy 44 advised that Westwood EMS would be transporting 1 firefighter to an area hospital as a result of the fire.

The Final Keystone Valley Fire Department unit cleared the scene at 21:15.

*Thank You to the Pequea Valley Fire Department (Engine 403) for standing by at the Keystone Valley Fire Department Central Station while we operated at the fire scene. Also Thank You to Irisheyez Chesco for the use of some pictures*.
