January 10, 2025

On January 10th, 2025 at 13:08 Sadsburyville Fire Company along with Keystone Valley Fire Department EMS were dispatched to the unit block of Washington Lane in Sadsbury Township for a Hazardous Materials Incident.

Sadsburyville Fire Company units along with Ambulance 8-1 made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a heavy odor of gas inside of the residence.

Sadsburyville Fire Company units and Ambulance 8-1 arrived to find a significant amount of home heating oil had been accidentally released into the basement of the home. Assistant 31 (Reynolds) and assumed command for this incident and requested a response from the Chester County Hazmat Team. Interior crews determined about 100 gallons of heating oil was released into the home through an old pipe that was not connected to anything in the basement.

The Chester County Hazmat team along with representatives from the oil company that delivered the product were on-scene. The situation was eventually mitigated by the Hazmat team and Sadsburyville Fire Company personnel and the situation was placed under control at 14:14. Ambulance 8-1 stood-by while the firefighters operated at the scene. The homeowners were not sick or injured and did not require medical services.
The commander made proper notifications to Pema and DEP. The scene was turned over to the homeowners a short time later.

Ambulance 8-1 cleared the scene at 14:14.
