Passing of Life Member George W. Evans of Parkesburg

The Keystone Valley Fire Department would like to extend our condolences to the family of George W. Evans who passed away recently. Mr. Evans had been a pillar of the Parkesburg community for the last several decades serving in a variety of roles that positively impacted our town and community.

George W. Evans, 92, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Martha's Manor Nursing Home in Downingtown, PA.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peg" Mulligan Evans. They shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Minersville, PA he was the son of the late Raymond Evans and Lillian Walker Evans. He was employed by American Hardware, (later ServiceStar) shipping and receiving center in Parkesburg where he had the luxury of walking back and forth to work everyday. George was a devoted resident of Parkesburg having served on the Borough Council for seventeen years.

He also served on the Borough Planning Commission and the Zoning Hearing Board. George helped start and also coached the Midget League baseball team in Parkesburg and went on to become the President of the League for a few years.

George was a Life Member of the Parkesburg Fire Co, serving as their Treasurer for many years, also a Charter Life Member of the Keystone Valley Fire Dept.

He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg. George was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Saint Joseph's Guild and was instrumental in the beginning of the OLC LifeTeen program. George also was involved in the Boy Scouts. He was the Scoutmaster for Troop 217 and Cubmaster for Pack 217, he also served as Webelos Den Leader. During this time, he earned the Order of the Arrow, awarded the Catholic Scouting Award and was appointed to the Chester County Council for Scouting. George also was involved in a Mentor program affiliated with the Octorara School District, which he enjoyed and spoke about often.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children; Kathleen Bubernack of Parkesburg, John F. Evans and wife Pauline of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey and Mary L. Evans of Parkesburg, four grandchildren, Jonathan (Kira), Elizabeth (Michael), Lindsay (Dewayne), Jeremy(Rachel) and four great grandchildren Ivy, Summer, Presley and Drew. Along with 14 niececes and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Isabella Kilraine, Samuel D Evans, Raymond Evans Jr, Nelson R Evans, Albert M Evans, Lillian M Daily, Verna E Bosack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA 19365 with visitation at the church starting at 9:30 AM followed by inurnment at Our Lady of the Sevens Dolors Cemetery, Parkesburg, PA Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady Of Consolation Church, Parkesburg at the above address.
